Meet the winemakers

Edward Miller

Born and raised in New Jersey, Edward Miller always knew he was bound to return to the East Coast. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Edward moved to Ithaca to get involved in the wine industry, and caught the bug. His career began at Lucas Vineyards on Cayuga Lake. During his time at Lucas, he completed the UC Davis Winemaking Certificate program as well.

Knowing there was a wide world of wine to discover, Edward left Lucas in the Spring of 2012 to travel and work in different wine regions. Over the next two years, he worked harvest in Sonoma, Napa, New Zealand, and Western Australia. Settling down in Sonoma as a cellar master in a custom crush operation, Edward had the opportunity to learn from over 20 different winemaker clients. It was through this position that he was introduced to renowned winemaker Merry Edwards, and joined her team as assistant winemaker. Wishing to learn more about vineyard management and winemaking, Edward departed Merry Edwards to obtain a Master’s Degree in Viticulture & Enology from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, Italy, experiencing the regions of Tuscany and Chianti Classico.

Edward had never forgotten his time in the Finger Lakes, and decided he wanted to return to be a part of its continued growth and development. He joins the Glenora team with excitement for the region and a passion to make beautiful wine.

Emily Doi

Raised in the Finger Lakes, Emily developed an admiration for the region's natural beauty and wide variety of offerings. This inspired her to attend SUNY Fredonia, where she graduated with a degree in Environmental Science in 2015. Like many others in the area, she got a job at a tasting room and started learning more about wine. In 2018, Emily took a cellar position at Hunt Country Winery and began working towards her viticulture/enology degree at FLCC. Her strong work ethic earned her a promotion to Assistant Winemaker under Craig Hosbach. In 2020 she achieved that degree, allowing her to take on even more responsibility. Now as Assistant Winemaker at Glenora Wine Cellars, Emily looks forward to continuing developing her expertise in winemaking during the 2023 vintage.
