Glenora Wine Cellars Receives “Exceptional” Award

Dundee, NY-October 18, 2007-In September Glenora Wine Cellars received the highest rating for our Vintner Select Dry Riesling from the Beverage Testing Institute. The BTI, from Chicago, awarded Glenora’s Vintner’s Select Dry Riesling 91 points for an “Exceptional” rating. The BTI has very rigorous testing methods that comply with the American Standards and Testing Materials.

The Glenora Vintner’s Select Dry Riesling is 100% from Norbud Farms, which grows only high quality Vinifera grapes on the east side of Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes. The block that these grapes came from was specially selected for extended ripening, well beyond the normal harvest period. The grapes from this block had achieved a higher degree of ripeness, as well as intense apricot, citrus and tropical aromas. The wine is finished dry at a moderate 0.84% residual sugar, and is balanced by a firm backbone of lively acidity.

Steve DiFrancesco, winemaker at Glenora said, “I worked closely with Ryan Bossert, who owns Norbud Farms, to grow the exceptional grapes that were made into this wonderful wine. We are proud to have close relationships with our grape growers, it truly makes a difference.”

Glenora has achieved some notable success in competitions in 2007 with over 70 medals received. Our Pinot Blanc has received two Double Gold and Best of Class in N.Y. competitions, as well as the “Chairman’s Best of Class” at the Long Beach Grand Cru competition in California.

Glenora Wine Cellars has been in the wine industry for 30 years producing award winning high quality wines. Glenora Wine Cellars was the first winery on Seneca Lake in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes Wine Country. Today the property offers a 30-room inn (Inn at Glenora) and a gourmet restaurant (Veraisons) joining the winery on the beautifully groomed 40-acre estate.
